Social media platforms like Reddit provide a space for users to share content and interact with others. On Reddit, user reputation is often quantified through a system of "karma," which reflects the community's perception of a user's contributions. This study, conducted by researchers at the University of Alabama, investigates whether accounts with significantly negative karma (specifically, -100 karma or lower) are more likely to be associated with individuals listed in sex offender registries. By analyzing publicly available data and employing statistical methods, we aim to explore any potential correlation and its implications.

## Introduction

Reddit, a popular social media platform, allows users to post content and receive upvotes or downvotes from other users, resulting in a cumulative score known as "karma."
